Northern lights
But you can book the best seat for them: a bed facing north, 10 km from the city lights.
From your bed
Yes, you can see the northern lights in Rovaniemi. The season runs from late August to early April, and the best hours are usually 21:00–02:00 on clear nights. At Lapland Glow Chalets, 10 km from the city lights, every chalet has a panoramic window facing north, so you can watch for them from bed.
That is what the chalets were designed for. Every one has a large panoramic window facing north, towards the part of the sky where the northern lights appear, and they are 10 km from Rovaniemi, far enough that the city’s light doesn’t wash out the sky. We can’t guarantee the aurora, and nobody honestly can. We built the chalets so that, when it comes, you have the best possible chance of seeing it.

The season
Late AugustSeptember to March: the longest dark nightsEarly April
September to March has the longest dark nights; late August and early April are possible. You need a clear sky and some solar activity, so several nights give you a better chance than one.
When it is cloudy
Some nights the cloud sits over Ollerovaara. The guided aurora hunt then drives to wherever the sky is clear, with no fixed mileage limit: €179 per person, 4–7 hours, pick-up at your chalet. If no aurora is seen, you choose a free second tour or a 75% refund.

Yes. The season runs from late August to early April, on clear, dark nights.
The darkest months, September to March, give the most viewing time. Late August and early April are possible too.
Usually between 21:00 and 02:00, when the sky is clear.
No. No one can guarantee the northern lights, because they depend on a clear sky and the sun. What we can do is give you the best possible chance of seeing them, from your own bed. Every chalet faces north with a large panoramic window, away from the city lights, and our Northern Lights Alert tells you when they appear.
Yes. Our Northern Lights Alert lets you know when the northern lights are visible, so you don't miss them.
On cloudy nights it can be: the guide follows clear skies with no fixed mileage limit, and if no aurora is seen you choose a free second tour or a 75% refund.
